Mr. Oluwemimo Ogunde SAN- Principal Counsel

Oluwemimo Ogunde SAN, the Principal Counsel of The Latter House Chambers, is a distinguished gentleman well respected for high standards of professional confidence & integrity in the defence of clients’ rights & in upholding the dignity of the Legal profession. He was called to the Nigerian Bar on 30th July 1983. He served his pupillage in Gani Fawehinmi’s Chambers, where he quickly became the deputy editor of the most reputable Nigerian law report, Nigerian Weekly Law Reports, until August 1987. He was in partnership with two other lawyers, which, till its dissolution, recorded many successes, including training some successful legal practitioners today up till 31st July 1999 before setting up Wemimo Ogunde & Co. on 3rd Sept 1999.

Wemimo, the firm's founder and principal counsel, is a leading advocate in Nigeria. Wemimo has successfully argued several cases in all courts of record in Nigeria, including landmark cases pursued at the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. Wemimo is well known for his sound advocacy skills and the ability to proffer practical and innovative solutions to complex legal matters. Notably, a Supreme Court judge, Honourable Justice Esho J.S.C (as he then was), commended a brief solely written by Wemimo when he was only four (4) years at the Nigerian Bar as “brilliant”.

Wemimo Ogunde, as a past Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Ogun State during his tenure, was involved in complex public litigation, public procurement, drafting of executive bills for presentation to the Ogun State House of Assembly, commercial agreements, and arbitration amongst other functions. Oluwemimo Ogunde SAN has brought back to the firm considerable experience gathered from public service ranging from regulation of business to policy and strategy.

He is a Fellow at the American Bar Foundation and also a merit award winner for professional excellence at his alma mater, Igbobi College Lagos (one of the oldest colleges in Nigeria and the alma mater of several prominent Nigerians). He is a regular speaker at conferences, seminars and workshops in the legal profession and other sectors.

With a large appetite for writing, he has published two Christian books, “Compassion: The Compass of Life” (2008) and “The Blessing of the Lord” (2017). He has also published a book on Legal Ethics, “The Lawyer-Client Relation: Beating Swords into Ploughshares,” which was presented on February 15th, 2024. He has several legal articles to his credit. He is an active member of the Nigerian Bar Association (Ikeja Branch) and the International Bar Association.

Grace Bassey

Grace is a Senior Associate in the Firm's Dispute Resolution and Arbitration Practice.  She has a proven track record of providing legal guidance and excellent representation to clients across various industries. She is proficient in developing and implementing strategies for litigation in both civil and criminal suits. She also has quality experience and a track record in representing clients at arbitration. She is also equipped to train, supervise, and mentor associates.

Oluwagbemisola P. Adenuga

Oluwagbemisola is a seasoned litigator with over 5 years of post-call experience, specializing in civil, criminal, and commercial litigation. Her expertise encompasses the full spectrum of dispute resolution, with a proven track record of success at various levels of the Nigerian Judiciary, including the Magistrate Court, State High Court, Federal High Court, National Industrial Court, and Court of Appeal.

Festus A. Adeboyeku

Victoria M. Sobowale

Victoria is a seasoned legal practitioner with considerable years of experience providing expert counsel to clients on debt recovery, property law, corporate compliance, and commercial law matters. She is an Associate at the Chartered Institute of Arbitration (ACIArb) and the Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioner (ABRIP)

Theophilus Oke

Theophilus Oke is a Counsel at Wemimo Ogunde & Co. where he passionately represents clients in litigation arising from property transactions, commercial transactions, criminal law and corporate law practice. Apart from litigation practice, He also carries out his practice of law in areas such as arbitration, taxation, start-up advisory and regulatory compliance.

He obtained his LL.b at the prestigious University of Ibadan before proceeding to the Nigerian Law School from which he was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2024. Theophilus is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the NBA’s Young Lawyers’ Forum (NBA-YLF).
